Hiking - Louis-Charles-Audet and Le Paysan trails at Municipalité des Éboulements
Crater and Tides sector
Duration: 4 to 8 hours
Free
Le Paysan trail (9.1 km round trip) travels a few farm roads allowing for looking at sheep, when in the fields, from up close and personal. It criss-crosses a forest of conifers, then climbs a mountain. The belvedere on top shows agricultural fields, the village of Les Éboulements, Isle-aux-Coudres and the St. Lawrence River. The viewpoint at the summit, to the North, somewhat reveals the villages of Saint-Hilarion and Notre-Dame-des-Monts, and the Mont du Lac des Cygnes, Mont Du Four, Mont Eudore-Fortin and Mont des Morios. The trail starts from behind the sheep pen.
Sometimes, crossing fields, sometimes hugging them, the Louis-Charles-Audet trail (6.2 km round trip) also goes through the forest and revels viewpoints on the relief and the St. Lawrence River. Softly climbing at the start, it then descends towards the river. At the end of the trail, a belvedere with benches presents a view of the river, to rest before the ascent. Be careful of the 65m cliff giving a view on the railroad below. The layout of the trail is often shared with VTT, no traffic, these are landowners circulating.
